TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, commonly known as Hoffenheim, is a German professional football club based in Sinsheim, Baden-Württemberg. The club was founded in 1899 and has enjoyed considerable promotion from the lower divisions to the Bundesliga in a relatively short time.

Hoffenheim's journey to the pinnacle of German football is a fascinating and unique story. In the early 2000s the club competed in the lower divisions, but has been significantly invested and developed under the ownership of businessman Dietmar Hopp.

With Hopp's financial backing, Hoffenheim quickly rose to the top and was promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in the 2008–09 season.
