Tenerife, officially Club Deportivo Tenerife, is a Spanish professional football club based on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. The club was founded on 8 June 1922 and has a remarkable history in Spanish football.

Tenerife spent most of its early years competing in regional tournaments. It was not until the 1960s that they were promoted to Tercera División (4th place). They were regularly promoted and entered La Liga for the first time in the 1961–62 season. Throughout the 1990s, Tenerife enjoyed a golden age under coach Jorge Valdano. The club was promoted to La Liga in the 1988–89 season and became a competitive force in the First Division. Tenerife's best performance in the tournament came in the 1995–96 season when they finished 5th in La Liga, qualifying for the UEFA Cup (now UEFA Europa League).

Tenerife's participation in European tournaments is memorable and they have had notable wins against top European clubs in their UEFA Cup campaigns.

However, financial difficulties and unstable form caused the club to be relegated from La Liga. Tenerife continued to fluctuate between La Liga and the Segunda División (Second Division) in the following years.

Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López is Tenerife's home ground, where many exciting matches have been played and received enthusiastic cheers from the club's fans.

Despite the challenges, Tenerife has maintained a strong fan base, with a devoted group of fans supporting the team in all difficult circumstances.
