VfB Stuttgart, commonly known as Stuttgart, is a German professional football club based in Stuttgart, the capital of the state of Baden-Württemberg. The club was founded on 9 September 1893 and has a long and illustrious history in German football.

Stuttgart has a long tradition of success in German football, both nationally and internationally. They are one of the founding members of the Bundesliga, Germany's top football league, founded in 1963.

The club's most successful period was in the 1980s and early 1990s. Under the guidance of coaches such as Helmut Benthaus and Christoph Daum, Stuttgart has achieved remarkable success. They won the Bundesliga for the first time in the 1983–84 season and won the league title for the second time in the 1991–92 season.

Stuttgart has also enjoyed success in domestic cup competitions, winning the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) several times, including victories in 1954, 1958, 1997 and 1998.

Internationally, Stuttgart has made notable appearances in European tournaments. They reached the final of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in the 1988–89 season but were defeated by SSC Napoli. Mercedes-Benz Arena, formerly known as Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion, is Stuttgart's home ground, which has seen many exciting matches and enthusiastic fan cheers.

In recent years, Stuttgart has seen fluctuations between the Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga. The club has focused on developing young talent and promoting their youth academy to build a sustainable and competitive team.
