The illustrious Birmingham City Football Club, often referred to as "Blues," is a professional English football team based in the city of Birmingham. Established in 1875, this proud club has enjoyed much success throughout its long and storied history.
Not only have they earned their sole league title victory back in 1956, but they've also gone on to claim two separate conquests of the Football League Cup - one being 1963 with the other coming fifty-eight years later when Blues claimed glory again during 2011's season. Additionally, Birmingham City can boast having won twice at the second division level (now named Championship).
The first instance occurred way back in 1892 while their second championship came around 71 years later within 1971.
During the 1950s, Birmingham City achieved one of its most successful eras as champions in 1956 and runners-up for 1955. Additionally, they also reached the final match of the FA Cup in '56 but lost to Manchester City.
Then from 1990's through 2000's, Birmingham competed among England’s top teams with their spot on Premier League until 2011 when relegation occurred; now playing second tier football ever since then. To add to that legacy are two occasions making it to a League Cup Final: 2001 and 2021!
Cheered on by a fierce, dedicated fanbase, Birmingham City competes in rivalry with Aston Villa. Their beloved home ground is St Andrew's Stadium - an open-air arena that holds up to 30,015 spectators.
