Aston Villa Football Club, commonly referred to as Aston Villa, is an English professional football club based in Birmingham and established in 1874. One of the oldest and most storied clubs in English football history.

Under George Ramsay's management in the late 19th century, Aston Villa enjoyed remarkable success. They won six Football League First Division titles between 1894 and 1910 - including an incredible run of five consecutive Championship titles from 1894-1899! Furthermore, during this time they also lifted five FA Cup trophies.

Villa's golden era reached its pinnacle during the early 1980s under Ron Saunders and Tony Barton. Villa won both the Football League First Division championship in 1981 and European Cup, beating Bayern Munich in a dramatic final match-up.

Recent years have been turbulent ones for Aston Villa. Facing relegation from the Premier League in 2016, Villa eventually found their way back up through successful Championship campaigns and back into the top flight under Dean Smith's management. More importantly, progress and competitiveness has been witnessed within its ranks of late in both divisions of play.
